Textile designers produce sketches and patterns for printed, woven or knitted textiles and many patterned surfaces, design fashion fabrics for clothing and homeware items, works with yarns and fabrics of various colours. Therefore this course requires lot of visualisation, creativity, a sense of colours, fashion and design.
In this course students get to know about design, textile technology and management, colour theories, weaving, fashion illustration, dying and printing among other things.

- A Textile Designer may get employment at export houses, textile mills , weaving mills or with an interior design studio that runs an advisory on interior furnishings.
- Design studios within retail and manufacturing companies also employ textile designers.
- Textile Designer may work as yarn technician, or a pattern maker or as an engineer, depending upon their interest and specialization.
