Functions
·         Identification and handling or storage of finished leathers, linings, grinderies and other material used for footwear and leather goods manufacturing.
·         Supervision of different operations and processes involved in manufacturing of footwear and leather goods.
·         Checking the quality at different stages during manufacturing the footwear and leather goods.
·         Maintenance and operations of different machinery used at different stages of footwear and leather goods manufacturing.
·         Controlling environmental pollution by doing  Leather and grindery waste management  and safe disposal to check atmospheric pollution.
·         Manufacturing some special type of leather based sports goods  such as Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey Ball, Cricket Ball etc.
·         Preparing  Leather based garments

Employment Opportunities 
·         India is one of the leading producers of leather and leather goods. Its leather Industry has witnessed a steady growth in exports over the years. The industry till recently exported only raw material like hides and skins but today it is major exporter of finished goods like shoes, garments and accessories etc. Government of India has also identified the industry as one of the priority industries and introduced several schemes to promote exports.
·         The industry is mainly concentrated in and around AgraKanpurCalcutta and Chennai. There are three main areas of work in the industry, namely manufacturing i.e. processing raw leather to finished leather, designing and marketing.
·         Eligible for good jobs in prestigious leather firms, export houses and government organizations.
